Job
Summary:
1.
Assists with patient care based on individual needs within the scope of practice under direct supervision of the registered nurse.
2.
Will lead and provide direct patient care within their scope of practice.
3.
Must be able to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks and maintain a high level of patient/customer satisfaction.
Essential Accountabilities:
Provides supportive care to the MedSurg/ICU patients under the direct supervision of the registered nurse or physician.
Demonstrates ability to work effectively as a multidisciplinary team member:
supports and assists team members in all activities.
Recognizes and reports appropriate data to the registered nurse.
Performs and assists with tasks appropriately delegated and supervised by the registered nurses.
Responds to patient and visitor questions and needs immediately within established standards.
Documents care provided including vital signs, bedside care, and observations.
Assists with preparation of equipment for procedures.
Monitors and restocks supplies as needed.
Properly label lab specimens and take to lab.
Provide explanations, education, and verbal reassurance as needed.
Meets current standards and policies in documentation.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Department Specific Accountabilities:

Complete unit specific competency checklist.
2.
Assist with preparing for and cleaning up after procedures, deliveries, and surgeries 3.
Assist with cleaning and sterilization of instruments.

Qualifications:
Education:
ADN or BSN, awaiting state licensure
Experience:
Licensure/Certifications:
Awaiting state licensure following completion of accredited nursing program.

OSHA Category 1:
Tasks that involve exposure to body, body fluids, tissues, and other potentially infectious materials.
Environmental Surroundings:
Located in indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature, and noise.
Physical Working Conditions:
