Director of Laboratory Services

Role:
Provides leadership, direction and administers operations of the Laboratory Department.
Essential Functions &
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with Clinic Administration, Pathology and Clinical Laboratory Medical Directors develop and maintain appropriate controls, policies, procedures and outcome monitoring mechanisms.
Develops annual budget and oversees profit and loss for laboratory divisions.
Assists business leaders with sales efforts and promotes new opportunities to improve financial outcomes through lab services. Analyzes profitability of new services in conjunction with financial team.
Hires qualified personnel and ensures that laboratory staff are appropriately trained.
Develops and monitors customer service improvement efforts for internal and external customers.
Ensures laboratory divisions meet or exceed established operating goals, including but not limited to, quality testing and turnaround times.
Supervises the daily activities of laboratory scientists, technicians and clerical personnel.
Performance Measures:
Provides leadership within the laboratory and serves as advocate for the Clinic within the community.
Maintains professional and friendly atmosphere for patients and staff.
Ensures maintenance of patient confidentiality.
Keeps current on regulatory issues and all technical laboratory issues.
Develops goals and provides appropriate accountability for their attainment.
Observes all clinic policies and guidelines.
Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills:
Experience: Two years of related experience is required. Previous supervisory experience in a laboratory, with experience in a multi-specialty clinic or hospital environment is preferred. General business acumen is highly desired.
Education: Bachelor's degree is required; certification as a Medical Technologist is highly desired.
Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.
Physical Requirements:
The ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 10 lbs. is required.
Exposure to body fluids, tissues and contagions is expected in a laboratory environment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
