Eaton Hydraulics has an exciting opportunity in Hutchinson, KS for an Engineering Technician! Hutchinson is seeking candidates who embrace challenges and thrive in a culture of innovation and integrity.
To modify and develop CNC programs from product and tooling drawings that will produce precision parts in accordance with applicable engineering specifications. Emphasis in this position is the complete preparation of CNC programs, documentation, and the training of the shop floor personnel.
Essential function of this job include:
Set up, adjust, prove out, and operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools to exact tolerances. Includes programming four and five axis mills, grinders, and Swiss style lathes
Modify and create programs with proper tool sequence and feeds/speeds to optimize machining programs
Provide input on machining efficiency improvements and cost versus benefit analysis of new tooling considerations
Train engineering staff and other program technicians on trouble shooting, programming, program control language, and tool/fixture principles.
Operation of CAM software such as Delcam and Mastercam; including uploading and downloading program files from CNC machines to other media devices.
Operation of CAD software such as Autocad, ProE, etc.
Maintain tooling inventory list, CNC program files, and set up sheets on computer
Work from drawings, specifications, programs, setup instructions, and other data to meet deadlines
Setup machines for operations such as boring, milling, drilling, facing, threading, and occasional profiling and contouring
Operate Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM), height gage, calipers, micrometers, profilometers and other quality gages to verify part quality
Evaluate and approve program integrity prior to release for production to the shop floor
Assist cross functional groups with programming support to address quality or delivery concerns
Provide manufacturing labor and materials cost estimates for new products and processes
Basic
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED from an accredited instituation required
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, on an ongoing basis, without company sponsorship
2 years experience with operating manual, NC, and/or CNC machine tools or previous programming experience
No relocation is offered for this position; only candidates residing within the Hutchinson area (50 miles) will be considered for this position.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Associate degree in Technology, Engineering, or related field
Courses in mechanical drawing, shop mathematics and machining practices
Certification or training in shop math for machinists
Formal job training in machining techniques, setup methods and operating procedures on conventional and numerically operated machine tools
Training in lean manufacturing principles
Experience with AutoCAD, CADKey, ProE, or other drafting packages
